Meet Saleh who attended EDF2025
Growing up in a rural village, Saleh faced countless challenges — limited access to resources, opportunities, and exposure. Yet, instead of letting those barriers define him, he turned them into motivation. With determination and vision, Saleh took bold steps and launched his own company right within his community.
Today, he is not only creating jobs but also inspiring other young people to believe in the power of local solutions. His journey reflects the true spirit of resilience, leadership, and innovation, proving that great ideas can thrive anywhere when youth are empowered and supported.
Saleh’s story is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do at TICO, nurturing potential, unlocking opportunity, and fueling a generation of change makers who turn challenges into change.

“My journey with the Youth Entrepreneurial Design Fellowship (EDF) Cohort 3 has been truly transformative. As the founder of Alira Wellness, a project dedicated to promoting mental health, community care, and human dignity, I came into the program with a vision—but EDF helped me give that vision structure, clarity, and purpose.
Through the fellowship, I gained practical skills in social entrepreneurship, leadership, and project development that strengthened both my confidence and my ability to create meaningful impact. The mentorship and learning experience allowed me to refine my ideas and think more strategically about how to grow Alira Wellness.
Today, I am building safe healing spaces and creating wellness tools like scented candles and guided journals that support people’s well-being in a more intentional and human-centered way. EDF has not only empowered me as a young entrepreneur but also expanded the reach and impact of my project within the community.
I am grateful for this opportunity and proud to be part of a network of young changemakers committed to creating positive change.”

“While I was still at university, I didn’t have a job and wasn’t sure what path to take. Everything began to change when I came across the Youth Entrepreneurial Design Fellowship (EDF) on social media and decided to join.
Being part of EDF was an exciting experience surrounded by young people with diverse ideas, I was inspired to think differently and discover new possibilities for myself.
Through the program, I gained valuable skills in pitching, entrepreneurship, and business documentation.
Most importantly, EDF helped me turn ideas into action. Today, I am a poultry farmer in Rwamagana, running a business that was born from the ideas I developed during the fellowship.”

“My name is Ndagijimana Jean de Dieu, a student at the University of Rwanda. Before joining the Youth Entrepreneurial Design Fellowship (EDF) Cohort 3, I had the desire to grow, but I didn’t yet have a clear direction.
Joining EDF became a turning point in my journey. I found myself in a community of passionate young people some still in university like me, others already graduated each bringing unique ideas and perspectives. Working alongside them inspired me in ways I had never experienced before. Their creativity pushed me to think deeper, dream bigger, and believe in my own potential.
Through this experience, I was able to shape my own project idea, something I once thought was out of reach. I am deeply grateful to the mentors who guided us with dedication and care they didn’t just teach us, they believed in us.
Today, I carry not only new skills, but also confidence and a renewed sense of purpose. EDF didn’t just give me knowledge it helped me discover what I am capable of becoming.”
